various objects and visual poems

I used to be a photographer, at least partially because it was a portable art form and could be happening while life was going on. I just needed a camera and I could potentially be making art. My sculptures come out of a similar desire to be making art while life is happening, and not despite it.
I use objects, notes, pictures that I collect during my daily life, I make art with my kids, and find inspiration in daily life, household clutter and eclectic domestic stuff. I’m trying to make each one look different from the next. I like when they look like they could be a school project, a toy, or some half-finished thing that is now living on a shelf next to Lego creations, family pictures and a fake plant. I like to make art with my kids and to collaborate with them for pieces. In my last show, Over Days, I displayed their art with mine. All of it was clipped on a hanging wire like we use to display their art in our kitchen.
I am primarily interested in play and experimentation, so I don’t think in terms of a consistent visual style or material. I want a yard sale aesthetic- the effect of seeing various objects that all came from the same place.
